New Procedure for Radiometric Controls in Trieste Terminal

 

Dear Customers,

 

As of 21. August 2023 a new procedure to manage radiometric controls by third party companies in terminal Trieste must be implemented, due to safety reasons.

This concerns import units arriving from Türkiye, loaded with scrap, semi-finished, and all other metal materials in order to detect radioactive anomalies.

 

For this reason, Trieste terminal need to implement following procedure:

 

New area for radiometric control named 'AREA RX' has been created in terminal and located immediately near the main gate. 

 

Within 15.00 on each working day, excluding Sundays, the unit (container/swap body/semitrailer) customer need to send the positioning request to the terminal to inspections.trieste@dfds.com;

 

Within 15.00 on Saturday for the following Monday.

 

Requests received after this deadline or not included in the above communication, will be, POSSIBLY, taken into consideration if the operating conditions allow it.

The request must include the following information:

• Company, name/surname of the technician who will carry out the radiometric control
• Semi-trailer plate/ container-swap number

 

If the unit is available, it will be transferred to AREA RX, the day after the request.

The transfer will be carried out according to the operating conditions of the terminal.

The placement in AREA RX will be confirmed by replying to the request email.

 

Customer need to communicate to the company that will carry out the radiometric control the effective positioning.

 

Once the activity is completed, the customer will send an email to inspections.trieste@dfds.com reporting the ILU code/BIC code/semi-trailer plate and the indication END ACTIVITY.

 

For above handlings, Samer Seaports Trieste terminal will invoice one handling move per unit, as per official tariffs in order to park the requested unit in the dedicated area.

Please note that, the customer keeps the responsibility to arrange/order such control with a company that will carry out the radiometric control.
