ISKENDERUN – EGYPT – SAUDI ARABIA RO-RO LINE OPERATIONAL UPDATES

Iskenderun – Egypt – Saudi Arabia Line initiated in cooperation with Salem Al Makrani Shipping Company (SAMC) has started on 7th of June 2013, Friday and continuously operates on the line.

 

Operational time of UND ATILIM with 176 complete unit capacity is 18 hours between Iskenderun and Damietta. Departures from Iskenderun takes place on Wednesday and Saturday nights and departures from Damietta takes place on Monday and Friday nights.

 

Drivers are transported with privately chartered flights of THY between Adana and Alexandria Borg El Arab. Flights from Adana departures on Fridays and Mondays at 01:10 and return flights from Alexandria departures on Saturdays and Tuesdays at 02:55.

 

Shuttle service to Adana Airport is on Thursdays and Sundays at 18:30 and departs from Antakya Village Bus Station. Service bus authority Mr.Sezai Kuvvetli can be reached from the mobile number +90 532 325 32 17. Shuttle service from Alexandria Borg El Arab Airport to Port of Damietta will be organized by U.N. Ro-Ro’s shipping agency Worms. Drivers will have to obtain their own visas.

 

UND ATILIM has a capacity of 12 drivers and only the drivers of refrigerated vehicles will have the priority to travel on board the vessel on the basis of maximum 1 driver from each company. Also, there will be two electrician officers to check the refrigerated units on board at all times. It is important that the drivers declare that their units are refrigerated at Mersin and Damietta Ports. Drivers willing to sail on board should have a valid Egypt visa. Other drivers using flight service should give their passport number and validity dates to the Agency in Iskenderun before the ship departures.

 

The convoy will be provided by Polaris Marine Services, who is currently offering this service. The current convoy prices are 100 $ paid in cash for vehicles arriving from Turkey and 100 $ if the vehicle is returning empty or 350 $ if the vehicle is returning loaded also paid in cash. The fees will be paid cash to Polaris directly by the customers. The convoy fees are not included in the freight charged by U.N. Ro-Ro.

 

SAMC will be running the Ro-Ro service from Adabiya (Egypt) to Duba (Saudi Arabia) with their vessels Rüzgar and Salmi 6. Rüzgar has a capacity of 115 complete units whereas Salmi 6 has a capacity of 85 complete units. These vessels will provide continuous service between Egypt and Saudi Arabia and will not leave any vehicles waiting at the ports.

The freight rates for June 2013 have been changed and 1 free round trip ticket to 3 round trip ticket campaign has been initiated:

 

 

 

 

Customers that purchase roundtrip tickets to Saudi Arabia and Gulf countries will be eligible for government incentive of 500 $ if they are Turkish plated and are registered as “tractor+semi-trailer” on their vehicle registration papers. To be eligible for the incentive, these vehicles should return to Turkey before August 14, 2013 and the plates of the tractor and the semi-trailer should be the same. The applicable freight rate will be 3000 $ for these units. For trucks returning after 14 August 2013, the 500 $ subsidy will not be applicable and this discount will be cancelled for them.

 

U.N. Ro-Ro will accept return tickets issued by SAMC for the Damietta-Iskenderun line from the customers that have purchased a round trip ticket from SAMC line during their previous operation.

 

500 $ fee that will be paid to Egyptian government for convoy taxes will be paid by U.N. Ro-Ro and is included in the freight charged by U.N. Ro-Ro.

 

Freight payments should be made to U.N. Ro-Ro’s agency in Iskenderun in cash or can be transferred to U.N. Ro-Ro’s bank accounts via wire transfer with the plate numbers in the explanation.
